The Dayton Hikers (DaytonHikers.Org) group is a community of people who enjoy hiking and backpacking. Our groups meets for both day hikes and overnight backpacking trips. People's biggest hesitation seems to be - how do I just go by myself with a bunch of strangers I don't know? Trust me - everyone goes through that anxiety to put oneself out there like that and meet strangers. If you feel that way, you're not alone. But the best way to get through it is to make it to that first meetup of yours. After that you won't feel a sense of not belonging and being an outsider. Go to one meetup and decide for yourself what your comfort level is and whether the group/people are something that you want to socialize it. You won't know until you try it out and it never hurts to try!! So go for it that ONE time if nothing else. You've got nothing to lose, and this group doesn't charge money so its free anyhow.

To find out who is serious about playing poker or who wants to continue to be a member, receive invitations, and help with the cost of this site and other expenses, I am going to have a yearly membership fee of $20.00; that is around $1.66 per month fee.
Payment is due by Saturday March 6th to continue to receive invitations to play in tournaments and play each week, after that date and you have not paid you will need to remove yourself from my meetup or unfortunately I will have to remove you.
If enough people remain paid members then I can drop the current weekly donation fee I have been using for each weekly game and establish an only donate if you eat or drink donation fee.
I will still have food, snacks and drinks and that will be on an only pay for what you eat or drink $1.00 for drinks and or $3.00 for a meal (soda, food and snacks) total for food and drink donation will be $3.00. This group is for those citizens that would like to see serious changes in America's drug policies. This group is for advocates of medicinal marijuana, decriminalization, and legalization. Our goals will be to educate the public about the recent science behind cannabis, and destroy the numerous myths that the majority still believes. We will be active in writing to legislators, increasing awareness, and in general, doing what we can to end the 72 year prohibition of cannabis.

Absolutely wonderful! I had such a great time ,and can not wait until next week. I can honestly say I wish there was more than just one meeting a week! I went alone today, and was able to meet a lot of new people, all very nice and energetic. The place was breathing like it was living with the dancing, chatter, and laughter! Made lots of new friends, and cant wait to come back. I am really looking forward to bringing everyone I know! Also, dont eat before you come. The food there is fantastic! Just looking at the menu will make you come back to try every thing once. I met the chef and she was awesome, as well as the very pleasant bar tender. They both really helped make the atmosphere. Dancing is aways fun, but with the proper instruction it only gets better! I learned things I didnt know, and improved drastically on the things I did. It Wows me on how easy it is to pick up what the instructors lay down step by step. Just had a really great time with great people!
Dayton is a fantastic city for cyclist. We have hundreds of miles of paved bike paths and we also have several mountain bike areas. The purpose of this group is to provide local cyclist a place to chat and meetup for rides. The group is open to cyclist of all skill levels. Doesn't matter if you are a long time road racer or a beginner on a mountain bike, you are welcome to join in the fun!

To get a variety of written-out songs uploaded by our members, do this: The menu listing at the top of the Meetup page for the group has an option titled "More." Running your cursor over that gives a drop-down menu that includes "Files." Click on Files and look at the list. Lary Eaton's booklet, recently updated, may be printed out. It will give you a "free" copy of one of the songbooks we use at our meetings.
The page also has all the other songs people have brought in and shared, listed in alphabetical order, to date. Clicking on a song title will open a pdf of the song sheet that should be printable.
If you want to upload a song for everyone to play, this is where you would do that. Please alert everyone several days before the meeting, or just print a dozen or so copies, and distribute them when we all get together (sticking with the book can get boring!).

We gather together monthly to do kirtan (pronounced keer' tahn). Kirtan is group "call & response" devotional chanting. The chants are easy to learn. Our sessions are fun and informal. No previous experience is necessary. We meet on the first Saturday of each month for kirtan, and the third Saturday of the month for satsang. We have also been doing some simple devotional circle dances to begin kirtan.

We are entering the golden age where love, peace, joy and harmony will replace hate, war, suffering and greed. Many traditions speak of gods who walked on Earth in previous golden ages. As we begin our transition into the next Golden Age, the same possibility is opening up once again. The human being is a transitional species. A new species is now being birthed in our midst. The induction process is preparing the way for what Sri Aurobindo referred to the divine human. Through the generations, and as we fully enter into the Golden Age, this will give rise to a ‘supra-mental’ species far beyond the current state of humanity.
Oneness Blessing /Deeksha, The Fire from Heaven, is a Divine energy that Awakens the Enlightenment Process. The direct transference of an intelligent divine energy which causes the heart to flower and initiates a neurobiological change in the brain.
The Oneness Blessing balances energy from (overactive) thinking centers of the brain to the (underactive) frontal lobe calming centers. This ‘re wiring’ of the brain enables the senses to become free from the interference of the mind. When the senses are unclouded by the mind’s interpretations, a natural clarity of perception occurs with accompanying feelings of joy, inner peace, connection and Oneness.
The neurobiological shift in the brain awakens the energy centers (Chakras) in the body. This shift in consciousness frees you from the suffering created by the mind, lessens the chatter of the mind, balances the body’s natural well-being and healing energies and attunes the brain with the fields of unity, bringing an end to the illusion of “apparent separation”. Once initiated, it is a gradual Awakening process that leads you naturally to a lasting state of Oneness, Inner peace, and Well-being.
In relationships, the Oneness Blessing enables a greater sensitivity and connectedness with the other, freeing you from the limitations of your judgments and conditionings. Success and prosperity begins with consciousness – a capacity to expand your horizon of thinking and an understanding of the universe around you, the principles governing you.
The external world is a reflection of the inner world. To change the world we must begin with ourselves, with the flowering of the heart. This is not just another concept, but an experience of Oneness with all of Creation and with the Divine Presence. This is a revelation. When people really grasp this, we will be living in a heaven on earth. It will mean completely disconnecting from the consensus reality of the ancient mind and our relationship with matter itself will be very different. It will mean that all the insights of quantum physics will become true, not just on a micro level, but on the level of our perceptions as well!

If you're looking for a laid back playgroup for you and your child/children then this is the place to be. There's not alot of rules and requirements. You make it to meetings when you can. I just ask that you keep in touch so I can plan events. I do ask that EVERYONE TRY to make at least one playgroup a month and you MUST have some sort of "contact" with the group (email, message board, meetup) at least once a month. After all, we're here to make friends for our kids and ourselves.
The initial goal of the group is to have at least 2 playgroups a week and a Moms Night Out at least once a month. Any and all suggestions for the group are more than welcome.
Our calendar is filled with events at different times of the day for children of all ages. We have mostly day events and some evening/weekend events. Dads are always invited and seem to have fun playing on the playground equipment unless it's a moms night out/in (That's our girl time).
This Playgroup is designed to provide a safe and caring support network for moms and kids. Members support each other through friendship, encouragement and sharing of experiences. This is a laid-back, child-centered, friendly organization intent on enriching the quality of life for mothers.
RSVP Politeness
When an event is hosted at member's home:
* If you RSVP "Maybe" please update it whether or not you will be able to attend 24 hours in advance. "Maybe's" will be considered "No's" the morning of event.
* You should update your RSVP as soon as your plans change. If that's within 24 hours of the event, you should personally contact the Organizer or Host via phone to tell them about the change. If you are expected to bring a food item/contribution to the event, and you cancel at the last minute, it is polite to offer to drop your contribution by, to the host if able.
* Things comes up, this is understood.
When an event is at a park:
* Please change your RSVP if you are not able to make it.
* If when you change your RSVP and notice that there is just 1 yes, please send that member a message as they might not check the event before leaving. We ask this so that the member can decided if they still want to go to or make other arrangements.
We understand that life happens and plans change. Please remember that organizers and hosts have put time into setting up the event so an RSVP or notice that plans have changed is much appreciated.
Please make sure that you input all of the organizers phone numbers in your cell phone so that you can contact them in case you get lost or have a very last minute change of plans.

To me this goes without saying. But, if you participate in ANY event associated with our group (including playgroups at a member's home, parties, park visits, field trips, and carpooling to any scheduled events) you do so at your OWN risk. In other words, take responsibility for yourself and your children. If they get hurt, it's your responsibility to take care of the situation. The group and it's members are not liable for any injuries incurred by other members or their guests at any activity or function.

Illness Policy
Don't go to playgroup if baby or mom:
is acting sick
has thick, yellow, green, nasal secretions
has diarrhea, frequent, watery, mucous or bloody
has vomited within 48 hours
has fever
has eye drainage or bloodshot eyes
has sore throat
has cough and fever
has spot-like rash following low-grade fever and tiredness (might be chicken pox)
has been on antibiotics for less than 48 hours
If clear runny nose, then use your intuition as to whether it's sickness or allergies/teething. (Likely if it's after sickness, it's still contagious.)
In general when the illness is mild or viral in nature, the child may return when the he has been free of symptoms for 24 hours, has no colored drainage, is tolerating food and liquid without incident (no vomiting, stools are soft and formed), coughing is minimal and intermittent, temperature is normal, energy level has returned to normal for that child, appetite has been regained, and, in the case of chicken pox, any skin lesions have dried and scabbed over.
Ultimately, parents know their kids best. If the child is less active, looks drawn out and tired, or has a fever, it is a sign that they should be kept home.
If your baby gets sick soon after playgroup, please send an email to the group so they understand that their baby might have been exposed to a cold, etc.

Recovery International meetings help people who are dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, and anger issues. Meetings use cognitive behavioral tools in a group setting to teach self management and self leadership. Meetings occur every week, last for 90 minutes, are open to everyone, and there is no charge to attend. Recovery International is a peer led organization that was found by the psychiatrist Dr. Abraham Low in 1937. They are over 600 weekly Recovery meetings in the United States and many meetings in Ohio. At the weekly meetings, members learn and practice tools to dealing with the symptoms that interfere with their daily lives. Steampunk is a growing movement and it's time Dayton Ohio got organized! Steampunk began in literature which said What if the Victorian's steam engine technology never went into gasoline and electricity, and air travel was by airship, not airplane? Today, Steampunk means cool fashion, gadgets, music, home design and more.
I've encountered many people recently who say they love the steampunk look, so I thought I'd set up a series of monthly gatherings to help give people a reason to work on their steampunk projects.
The group should go in whatever direction (s) it wants to. Plenty of room for leadership here - if you have a vision you can make it happen! I'd like for the group to stay all-inclusive, with plenty of room for beginners and those whose goals and interests are different from the majority.

This group is all about sharing experiences regarding the best childcare available in the Dayton/Springfield area. How do working Moms know where to go, how do you evaluate what is available, what experience can working Moms share with other working Moms, etc.
We started the group because we wanted Brazilians in the Dayton, Columbus, Cincinnati area to have times to connect and celebrate their Brazilian traditions. Many Brazilians are missing their homeland and their way of worship, and we are a Methodist Group that has formed to try to reach out and help Brazilians who may be struggling, or just want to connect to fellow Brazilians who understand their struggles. We also have formed a Portuguese class at Sinclair, offered through their curriculum on Thursday evenings, 5:30-8:10pm starting in September. We are hosting a Brasilian Independence Day Celebration at Caesar's Creek on Sunday, September 5 from 1:00-7:00. Meat and drinks are provided, and we ask that you bring a covered dish to share.
